Mufuka Works dance students  had a wonderful time learning the beautiful art of aerial dance at C.Calouche &Co. this morning.  The students really got hooked on this unique dance technique!!

Mufuka Works Square Root Youth Dancers Win Big at Dancers Spotlight

On Sunday, March 9th members of  the Mufuka Works Square Root Youth Performance Company participated in the Dancer Spotlight Competition and Workshops.  This full day of dance was held at the East Charlotte Simmons YMCA.  

The  Square Root dancers gave beautiful performances as they shared  the art of dance as a vehicle to tell human life stories.  Bitter Earth, Friends for a Season, Holiday, and Time were all award winning performances at this competition.

These dancers worked together to earn high honors with platnum and gold awards from the judges.

STARTING A PERFORMANCE COMPANY

MUFUKAWORKS PRESENTS...SATURDAY JULY 13, 2013 AT 10AM-11AM SQUARE ROOT PERFORMANCE REHEARSAL Rylee, Jamilah, Janae, Sumayyah, Amatullah, Zahyona AND AT 11AM-12NOON ELITE ROOT Sumayyah, Amatullah, Shelby, Ali, Yasmin.

The previous mention is the rehearsal times for my new performance company members.  I started MufukaWorks Dance company with a vision to use dance a vehicle to portray human life stories. It has been successful in dance education and dance performance.  This season, I will like to explore the dance performance side in two entities of youth and professional. To all the supporters, thank you for  supporting the journey.

THE DEFINATION OF SUCCESS

The definition of success to me is peace.  The big house, money, cars, and business makes no success to me.  My peace is growing past the moment that I find out that not all guys are like my father.  My father is a kind, successful, and funny man.  At seventeen, I realized that not all me n are like my father.  Some men are just scum and care nothing for you.

In my adulthood, I pray that I grow pat that clueless girl.  I pray that I see not knowing better at the time and being Ok with it.  I pray living past that moment that I allowed to define me for many years.  It is only then that I will be at peace.  I will have success. I am on the pathway to finally getting there. Thank you the Lord for my therapy through dance. It kept me a float all these years.  My new work this spring will be "I am".

Delegating

Hello Dancers and Dance Supporters,

The drum classes and ballet classes did begin and I learned a valuable lesson.  I learned how to delegate.  In the mix of everything of choreographing, setting up classes, and dancing, I realize that I need help.  So, I go to my dance moms (parents of the dance students).  We sat down on a Friday evening and discussed the schedule of the upcoming months. It all settled to a good plan for Spring Semester.  I appreciate my dance moms and they believe in the vision.  I could not have it better. Special thanks to Ms. Pettis, Ms. Scott, and Ms. Stocks. 

For the upcoming months, we will have the drum class, ballet classes, and rehearsals for the competition and performances. We have everything set for the Spring. It will be a Spring. Next performance June 1, 2012 save the date.

I am so sore from rehearsal for "Free to Live". I have only been in Charlotte for a year and this company, Carolina Calouche is amazing opportunity. I am honored to be their guest artist.
