MufukaWorks Dance Company mission is to use dance as a vehicle to tell human life stories. 

MufukaWorks consists of dance education and dance performance under the direction of Elsie Mufuka (BA in Dance and BA in Communications), Shanta Chisolm-dance educator, and Freddie Rivera-drummer .  

Starting in September 2014, the dance education was in full force 

Thursdays 

6:15pm for Ballet for 7-up

7:15pm African Hip Hop for ages 7-up 

Saturdays   

9:00am -Afro Russe Babies (3-6years) 

9:45am Afro Russe (African Contemporary with Drumming)Tweens (7-12years) 

10:45am MufukaWorks Square Root Youth Performance Co. rehearsal *selected dancers 11:45am-Afro Russe (African Contemporary with Drumming) Adults (13-up) 

On Saturday November 15, 2014, the dance students showcased themselves as the royalty they are.  They did a dance sharing a representation of each dance class.  The dancers are the youth our community in East Charlotte.  They take classes and rehearsals at Mecklenburg Park and Recreation Albembarle Road Recreation Center.   They all know anything worth anything is hard work and did just that on Saturday.

Mufuka Works Elite Root Shares Afro Russe at Levine Senior Center

On September 27, 2014  the Mufuka Works Elite Root Dance Company had the privilege to perform at the Levine Senior Center Dance Fest.  Our company had a great time proudly sharing  their Afro Russe style performance with the audience at the Senior Center located in Mathews NC.

Summer Dance Fun in Charlotte

 This summer Mufuka Works will be offering dance education  sessions to the campers of  Charlotte Elite Enrichment and Recreation Camp.   Dance education classes will be offered to children attending the camp at the Albermarle Road Recreation Center.  The children attending this summer camp will be engaged in many activities that enhance critical thinking skills and build self-esteem.  Mufuka Works director Elsie Mufuka has adynamic and fun filled dance education cirriculum planned for the Charlotte Elite Campers during Summer 2014.

Mufuka Works Elite Root Professional Dance Company

Mufuka Works is proud to present our professional dance group - Mufuka Works Elite Dance Company.  They will be presenting Afro Russe  style dance performances  to the Charlotte Metro community.  This professional level dance group is available to  provide dance performances to local organizations, community events and businesses. Mufuka Works Square Root Youth Dancers Win Big at Dancers Spotlight

On Sunday, March 9th members of  the Mufuka Works Square Root Youth Performance Company participated in the Dancer Spotlight Competition and Workshops.  This full day of dance was held at the East Charlotte Simmons YMCA.  

The  Square Root dancers gave beautiful performances as they shared  the art of dance as a vehicle to tell human life stories.  Bitter Earth, Friends for a Season, Holiday, and Time were all award winning performances at this competition.

These dancers worked together to earn high honors with platnum and gold awards from the judges.  

Congratulations to 

Amatullah, Sumayyah, Leah, Tylar and Jamilah !!!
