Audrey Baran is the founder and Artistic Director of Baran Dance, a contemporary dance company which seeks to make dance more accessible and inspiring in Charlotte, NC. She graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a BA in Dance in 2003, and has since danced with Martha Connerton/Kinetic Works, Queen City Jazz Company, Kim Robards Dance, project incite, EE Motion, and currently Moving Poets Charlotte. Audrey teaches at Open Door Studios and Charlotte Ballet Academy and has served as an Adjunct Lecturer in Dance at her alma mater. She has performed in the North Carolina Dance Festival, Piccolo Spoleto, Martha Graham's "Panorama", re-staged by Kim Jones, and with the CDF Repertoire Ensemble under the direction of Jennifer Archibald. Her dance film, “Arms” received an Honorable Mention at the Movies by Movers Festival in 2014, and she has won both Choreography and Ensemble awards at the Charlotte Dance Festival’s Emerging Dance Awards. Ms. Baran was chosen to choreograph the finale for the CMS Honors Dance Program in 2014, as choreographer for Celebrate the Arts, a high school festival in Columbus County , NC in 2015, and she is the resident musical choreographer at Piedmont IB Middle School. She is thrilled and honored to be beginning the MFA program in Dance at Hollins University in 2015. Audrey is also a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher, and continues to share her love of movement and mindfulness throughout the Queen City.
